How do I install swaret on Slackware 9.1 ?

Hello,

I've just downloaded and installed Slackware 9.1 and, having read how good swaret is, I'd like to try it out.

However it didn't seem to get installed by Slackware (I did a full install of all packages) So I went to the website and downloaded the swaret and swaret tools .tgz files.

However I now can't find any instructions on what I'm supposed to do now ? (including on the swaret website)

So I thought I'd try using tar -xvzf 'filename' (in the hope of finding an install script) and have found the 'install folder' which contains a 'doinst.sh' and 'slack-desc' files....

But now I'm slightly lost as to what I should do next ?

Worst of all is my trusty monitor died last week so I'm now trying to work with a borrowed 14 inch beast which has such a low refresh rate it's almost strobing.... My head is hurting !

So if anyone would care to tell me how to get the bugger installed I'd be most grateful ?

cd to the directory with the tools in them then you'll need to su to root if you're not already and run installpkg packagename.tgz for whatever packages you want to install.

Thankyou !

Thanks for that !

Now you've enlightened me I think I did read about installpkg during the last week or so but being still rather new to Linux I'd forgotten about it.

Anyway thanks again for the reply. It was much appreciated !
