Question How do I install from isos from another machine?

I got a network, where one computer is a windows server.
On that server I got the two installation isos:
slackware-10.2-install-d1.iso
and
slackware-10.2-install-d2.iso

Why are there two isos, when the docs refer to them as one all the time?

Now I want to install on another machine in my network.
How do I do that?
I'm very new with linux so please take it slow.

Thanks for your help.

Ya, it looks like you're going to need to burn those images to cd.

Something like:

mount -o loop /path/to/file.iso /path/to/mount/point

no need to burn iso's.
maybe you can use this :

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...?postid=850537

...and the filetree where the packages live is /slackware

btw. the basisc are on cd1.
cd2 has the kde-stuff.

Seems like burning two CDs would be much easier, IMHO

Thanks

That helped me a little, now I'm downloading the files to my harddrive.

I think the site should discribe this a little more...

Thanks a lot

Installing via ISOs over the network is how I do most of my Slackware installs now. It let's grab the Slackware-current ISOs from the internet, and do a fresh install of the latest version whenever I want to setup a new machine.

All you need to do is mount the ISO as loopback on the server, share the mounted ISO directory over NFS, mount the NFS share on the client PC (after using the boot floppies or boot CD), and start installing.

If the NFS server is Linux, no problem, if you need to install from a Windows machine, then grab the "Services for Unix" package from the Microsoft website, and setup the NFS server though that.

MS3FGX, that's exactly what I want to do.

When I try to install the services for unix, it says it can't install on an XP home computer...

The server comp is an ftp server, if that could help.
Isn't it possible to do something like this:
mount -o loop 192.168.1.3/slackware-10.2-install-d1.iso /I/dont/know

Search for windows registry modification, which enables pro features. As I remember, this was very simple.
Look here: http://slackftp.sourceforge.net/ and http://www.emsi.it.pl/SuckSlack/
