How do I adjust system volume in Slack 12.2?

Listening to aol radio for example-does slack come with an equalizer app too?

Try alsamixer (as root).
KDE should have some GUI apps as well.

Use kmix for KDE. As root, run alsamixer to adjust the levels, then run alsactl_store to save the levels as the default.

OK-alsamixer worked but alsactl_store said no command found?
Also-can't find kmix?

Sorry about that, it's actually alsactl store. No underscore. If you did a full install, you should be able to just run kmix.

hello linus 72.

I have passed by the same problem. Every time that i startup my system the sonund is low. I resolve this just inserting a new line in the /etc/rc.d/rc.local. This file is look like Autoexec.bat of the windows.

i just add the line aumix -w100 -v100 where w is a PCM channel and v is a main volume channel.

i hope that's help.

sorry for my poor enghish. i'm a brazilian gut.

when using alsactl store (after alsaconf (to setup the soundcard) then alsamixer) your (default) volume settings are stored. You should not need a separate line in /etc/rc.d/rc.local

As for the poor english: no worries, most people here are non-native english speakers/writers and as such you should not have to apologize, nobody's perfect and when writing in a foreign language small errors are frequent and nothing to worry about.

During your running you can use kmix to adjust volume to levels you want at that very moment. If you have a multimedia keyboard with volume buttons you can use keybindings in kde to let them be adjusted with your keyboard as well.
