How can i test out wayland?

Hi, i've never used wayland before, but am interested in playing around with it.

I notice that these packages exist on Slackbuilds.org:
* wayland
* wayland-protocols
* wayland-egl

I built/compiled "wayland", and saw that this adds a session selection in KDE5's login screen (i'm using alienbobs ktown packages). However, when selecting the wayland session, i end up with a tty console that simply has an underscore in the top left corner, nothing happens after this.

I am using a nvidia card, and i realise nvidia claims to have no plans to support wayland, however i have read of people being able to run wayland on a nvidia card, using nvidias drivers.

What am i missing to get a wayland KDE5 session running?

First of all, Wayland is NOT an replacement for X.org server, then a desktop environment for X will glorious fail on Wayland.

Secondly, there is currently no support for the NVIDIA binary blobs in Wayland, only for Nouveau. You have to chose between Nouveau and Nouveau as driver alternatives.

Thirdly, to run Plasma5 in Wayland, you will need a special build given by AlienBOB, and found there: https://slackware.nl/alien-kde/current/5_wayland/ and not some SBO packages. Yeah, is more complicated than it looks.

Finally, you probably will notice that you will gain nothing running Wayland compared with X.org, and it is rather very limited. And it will always be, as Wayland was a thing invented for tablets, not for desktops.

I'm currently running it with Dlackware. It works fine, but I notice there is an Xwayland process constantly running, and I suspect many apps are actually running through that.
