Hotpluggin for USB Alcatel Home Modem ? HELP ????

I recently installed Slackware 9.0 on my Dell Laltitude CPi A300, everything went ok and i did a full clean install , i have kde 3.1 up and running and even the sound and video where configured automatically , i have mounted my /fdo and /cdrom and everything but the internet is working.

I have the Alcatel Home 500 USB modem , ( Alien Head ) I have seen a few tutorials and most of them do get confusing for an amature, i have found an easier tutorial , htp:/users.aber.ac.uk/gcn1/ADSL/ , In step 3 it asks to install a .RPM file which is a Hotplugin for the USB to start everytime on bootup, i run the command rpm --install hotplug-2002_08_26-1.noarch.rpm and it gives a CHKCONFIG does not Exist , and also lists a few directorys , ive tried to look around for a few tutorials on this Hotplugin and no Joy , i cant even seem to see a package i can re-install , can anybody shine any light onto this, my only suggestion is that this tutorial was written for Redhat and Mandrake NIX, am i best following another tutorial ?

Im glad i have found this forum, i might need a lot i think .

thanks si.
