Hotplug freezes at boot up

I just installed Slackware 10.2 and upon bootup, it freezes at hotplug. I know it's because of my MS Keyboard+mouse combo. How can I fix this?

Uninstall hotplug and/or read ESR's `smart questions' (www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html)

Boot from a livecd like Slax and see if there are clues in /var/log/syslog and messages.
I often have to add module names to /etc/hotplug/blacklist.
