Highpoint 374 RAID controller?

Does Slackware 8.1 even support the HPT 374 RAID controller? I know the Linux 2.4.18 kernel itself supports the HPT 370 controller, and there's generic HPT 366 support included as well. But I don't think either of those include support for the newer HPT 374 integrated controller. When looking at the ChangeLog for Slackware 8.1, I see that there was a lot of work done to add support for ATA RAID devices and arrays, but no mention of which controllers this support includes.

If there is no support for the HPT 374 controller yet, is there a kernel patch to add such support? I saw on the Highpoint web site that they have drivers available for RedHat 7.x (not 7.3 though), but these are pre-compiled modules for the specific kernels that shipped with RedHat 7.1 and 7.2. There's no source code. I'd much rather have a kernel patch than a loadable module though.

Also, I saw that there was a kernel patch for the 2.5.x kernels which added HPT 374 support to the HPT 366 driver. But I'm not running a 2.5.x kernel :)

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
