Help with slackware configuration

Here is my current problem. I have an Intel Pentium D processor on an Asus P5WD2 mother board, 2 gb Ram, 3 Western Digital 160gb sata drives(1 and 2 are raid 0 array), 2 plextor sata cd/dvd burners, BFG Nvidia 6800 Ultra, and a Hauppauge WinTv-PVT-500 tv tuner card. As for OS's I have Windows XP Pro installed on the raid array and Slackware installed on the 3rd sata drive. My question is how can I set it up to dual boot the two OS's and how can I get the cd/dvd burners to work? Also how do I know if both cores are being used? Any help would be great.

you need to compile your kernel to take advantage of dual cores...

as for dual booting - this is achieved via a boot loader. usually either 'grub' or 'lilo'. This enables a menu that selects a OS to boot.

what is your kernel version? 2.4.31?? if that is the case you will need to pass special parameters to the kernel at boot time. i.e ide-scsi=hdd

i would recommend using the stock 2.6.13 kernel that comes with the distro...

I am using the 2.6 kernel. The problem I am having with lilo is that when i change it and run the lilo command I get a message that says that the boot sector and map file are on two different disks...or something similar(I am at work so I can't see the exact message).

if you are running a 2.6.x kernel do not use ide-scsi, as this will also break things. lol

I am not using ide-scsi. Is there something special I have to do for lilo if Windows is installed on a raid array?
