help with quota command and dd command

Just would like to know the easiest way to set user disk usage limits using quota. Also, I'm in the process of trying to backup my partition onto another partition accross the network. Is there a way to use the dd command to do this? For some reason, someone had told me that the dd command was the best option for this.

Read the quota HowTo at www.tldp.org which is very detailed and will get you going in setting up quota limits.

I'm sure dd would work in backing up. If your doing it across a network, I am assuming you have NFS setup? I don't think it would work with any other command over a network unless you have NFS setup.
