help : whereis mkinitrd?
 
i've downloaded and compiled the latest kernel-2.6.6 but cannot create an initrd image as when typed...

#mkinitrd

it say "command not found"

is there anywhere i can download the source or package where "mkinitrd" is included...

i'll take a look... but where... coz could not find anything for mkinitrd on the www.slackware.com/pb current or 9.1...

No, it should not. Slackware doesn't use initrd. Why do you need to create an initrd? If you are compiling your own kernel just make sure the ide, ata and filesystems drivers you use are compiled statically into the kernel.

I assume you might want to use that to use the bootsplash. If so edit your /etc/lilo.conf and put a line containing

initrd = *path to initrd*

so u mean as long as u compile the required statically there is no need for mkinitrd... but what happens if you do need to create a initrd image ...

so there anyway u can download the source or a package which includes mkinitrd from somewhere...

You don't need mkinitrd, including the option in lilo will do the same thing.
