Help needed with a few commands.

Hello:
I need to find out a couple of things about my laptop from the command line, but I have no idea which command to deploy:
1.the com port and IRQ of the modem ;
2.the address and IRQ of the network card ;
3.amount of video RAM ;
It is a second-hand machine and the model has been discontinued, and I apparently do not have one of those LiveCDs, so it would be great if someone could help. Thanks.

Welcome to LQ!

1 - no modem, but maybe #2 will do it
2 - "/sbin/lspci -v" for the IRQ; "/sbin/ifconfig -a" for the address
3 - "/sbin/lspci -v" will also tell the video ROM (don't think it's RAM)

You can run those commands as a user, with those full paths.

Look around in the /proc directory.

Command procinfo displays quite a bit of info from the files in that directory.
