HELP!! GLIBC problem!!!!!!!

i used swaret to update x, but now when i bot into my system it gets to the error :

/usr/bin/gdm-binary: /lib/lic.so.6: version "GLIBC_2.3.2" not found (required by /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6)

and then it just hangs there for ever. I can't even get to a command line because my system automatically boots to the gdm for my families ease of use. Can i use my slack cd to save it????? Please Help ME!!!!!!!!! WHat do i do!?

Yes, you can use your slackware cd to save it. Boot from the cd and then mount your Slackware hard drive somewhere, like mount /dev/hda# to /mnt/hda# [where # is the partition number that your / directory is on]
I would then cd to /mnt/hda#/etc and edit your inittab file to change the default run level to 3. Then you can reboot from the hard drive without bringing up x windows.
After that, well there's several different things you could do. I don't use swaret, but maybe it broke some links or over wrote something? You could try to update again with it, or maybe use the slackware command pkgtool to reinstall the messed up libraries.

This is a little thing beetween Slackware 9.0 and 9.1...
To fix it just download glibc-2.3.2 package from slackware site and upgrade 2.2.2 pkg...

Antneh...if you are using Red Hat you can download the rpm of the glibc version that you need...
Probably on RH site...

or you can just google "glibc 2.3.2 rpm". You'll get loads of rpm sites to download it from. Then just install it as you would any othre rpm. Good Luck!
