Lightbulb Help configuring ALSA in Slack 9.1

Dear fellow slackers,

After alot of reading in here, downloading and compiling net latest alsa drivers i finally made it to work!

But when starting alsamixer (or simulary) there are a bunch of adjustment posibilities, so the question is how does your seetings look like?

My hardware is: Creative SB Live Platinium - playing through emu10k1 module,
I have a Creative analog Inspire 5.1 amplifier and suround system connected to it.

In short: I need help adjusting the mixer-settings, so that I have sound in all 5 speakers + the bassunit.

Thanks in advance!

Try logging into command line as root and typing:

alsaconf

This will probe for hardware and what not. When done, type this:

alsamixer

This will get you into the configuration menu for alsa. Type M to mute/un-mute any chanel. Use your arrow keys to adjust volume settings and to move from channel to channel. I dont' have 5.1 or surround attached to my box, but there is a Surround channel in there. When you're done, hit Esc and you'll get back to command line. Now type:

alsactl store

to save your settings. Enjoy!
