Download the manufacturer's hard drive diagnostic utilities and run them on the drive in thorough mode. All the majors have them available on their websites and they usually are in the form of a bootable iso which you burn to cd-r as an image and run off the cd-r. If the tests show a problem and you are within the warranty period, contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

The error messages you are getting may be indicative of a hard drive that is starting to get bad sectors which usually means the drive is on its way out. If you have important data on that drive, now would be a good time to do some backups.
