hdc: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x 1)

Hi all,
I am running Slackware 9.1 w/o any mods and just using the bare.i kernel. I noticed
that when I am trying to play music in kde, I can only play one cd. The minute I stop
it and attempt to load another one, I get the following error:

hdc: lost interrupt
hdc: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x 1)

Right now I got my screen full of these buggers and the only way to recover is to
reboot. I have no problem in gnome. Is this a kde-3.1.4 bug?

I am about to give up on this one. I don't have any problem in Slack 8.0. Good thing
that I did not destroy it yet. But I do love Slack 9.1's smooth fonts and speed: I am
running this puppy on a Pentium 166 mhz with 128 mb of ram :-)

Anybody has any suggestions for this old chap? Thanks in advance

LQ Addict,

I am familiar with the links you provided, but the suggestions
there will not work for me because my cdrom is the master in
my second ide channel. Also, I know that it works well under
Slack 8.0, Win 95, NT 4, and even DOS 6.22. I have all those OS
in my machine!

What I am going to do asap is to recompile the kernel and see
if the problem continues. If it turns out that I can't make it work,
then I will just delete kde and stick with gnome.

I have done a lot of search in google and here too. None of
the suggestions I have seen have worked for me. Thanks.
