HDA Intel, Macbook 4,1, no sound.

I think it's the HDA Intel anyway.
In alsaconf it comes up with, 'hda-intel Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller', and I select that one.
When I do, 'aplay /home/emor/sample.wav' it says it's playing but I don't here any audio.
I've tried various configurations on both the alsamixer and the graphical XFCE sound mixer, and neither have really done anything.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...e-13-a-785869/
I was reading that thread and edited /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf with the following:
Code:
alias char-major-116 snd
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd_hda_intel model=mb5
However, the mb5 is for the MacBook Pro 5,1, which is the closest I could find to the 4,1 model in the kernel documentation(HD-Audio-Models.txt).
My ALSA version seems to be quite low compared to what I've seen from others:
Code:
cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21.
Anyone?

We won't delete it as it might help someone else one day, or you might want to add something to it later.

Instead, why not tell us a little about this "obscure configuration", and what you did/found to fix it, and mark the thread [SOLVED] using the Thread Tools menu near the top (above the first post) (EDIT: I see you did that already ).

Thanks, & best regards!
