Having problems with Slackbuild, please, please help

I was initially trying to get Openoffice running on my 13.37 64 Laptop and from other threads, advised to use the Slackbuilds.org site so...

I thought I'd try first with a smaller application that I used to use, in this case abiword, so downloaded and followed instructions as I understood them but I'm getting an error, the following:

#####

configure: error: Package requirements (
fribidi >= 0.10.4
glib-2.0 >= 2.6.0 gthread-2.0 >= 2.6.0 gobject-2.0 >= 2.6.0
libgsf-1 >= 1.12
wv-1.0 >= 1.2.0
enchant >= 1.2.0 gio-2.0
cairo-pdf cairo-ps pangocairo
gtk+-2.0 >= 2.12.0 gtk+-unix-print-2.0 librsvg-2.0 >= 2.16.0
) were not met:

No package 'wv-1.0' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables DEPS_CFLAGS
and DEPS_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

#####

Any and all help is appreciated.

As the error message says, you need to install wv (also available from Slackbuilds.org).
Always check the README document before installing anything.

yea, sorry, should have said, done that too.

wv-1.2.4-i486-7sl shows in my pkgtool listing
whereis wv shows /usr/include/wv /usr/share/wv

If I try running .configure on the source, gives me the same message.

Sorry for being a "noob" again.

If you install any slackbuilds, make sure you've logged in with 'su -' not just 'su'. Try that when you run the Abiword Slackbuild.

Stupid mistake by me here, I noticed the version of wv from slackbuilds was different to the one I had downloaded and installed.

rectified that and now all is well...

Thanks for the help

hi

a very nice tool to help you with the SlackBuilds is sbopkg

you can also read what the queue files are here

once you get familiar with that, you can download a collection of queues from here

unfortunately, some of the queue files are a bit outdated, so read carefully the READMEs of the SlackBuilds you use to see what they require, don't just trust the queues without checking
