I think that the thing that has most helped me is to edit the linux.bat file to reflect your situation. The line in there that is not commented out should tell the computer where to find your root drive. This should either look like this:
root=/dev/sda4 rw for an inserted zip disk (default)
or
root=/dev/hda1 rw for a folder on your C: drive
Other things will come up at boot time.
If vmlinuz is not booting your hardware properly, try treplacing it with the appropriate bootdisk image.
