I had to reinstall XP due to one of their patches crashing my system... /grumble microshaft
I rebooted, and it did not load LiLo. How can I get LiLo working again so that I can get back into Linux? I really dont want to reinstall if i can avoid it, it took me a very long time to get things set up and working
well i am not sure what distro your using (thats useful info in a post )
but typically you can use your first cd installation disc as a rescue disk, and then re-run lilo to be installed ..
Boot off the first cd, and it will tell you how to boot your system. At the boot promt type:
bare.i root=/dev/hdaX noinitrd ro (replace X with the number of your root partition)
Alright, so now you are booting up, and if you have a graphical login, hit ctrl+atl+f6. Now you login in as root, type "lilo", hit enter, and boom, you're done.

Are you sure you have your partition number correct? If you aren't, try doing what I said above, and start with /dev/hda1 and go all the way up to /dev/hda9.
