Guitar Pro 6 doesn't start, "symbol lookup error: ./libxml.so: undefined symbol: gzop

Hi there,

I was trying to run Guitar Pro 6. It is installed to /opt/GuitarPro6 and when I try to run it, I get an error:
Quote:
christian@tux:~$ /opt/GuitarPro6/gp-launcher.sh
./GuitarPro: symbol lookup error: ./libxml.so: undefined symbol: gzopen64
I have installed all the requirements (PortAudio, PulseAudio etc.) but this does not indicate to do anything with libxml.so.
Here's another interesting output:
Quote:
christian@tux:~$ objdump -T /opt/GuitarPro6/libxml.so |grep gzopen
00000000 D *UND* 00000000 gzopen64
If I understand this right, it is undefined (*UND*) but what can I do about it? It is the standard libxml.so that is included in the GuitarPro6 Package.

THanks

gzopen should be in libz, I think.

strings /usr/lib64/libz.so | grep gzopen

The funny thing is, I run a 32bit system and GuitarPro ist also 32bit. Perhaps I should create a link in /usr/lib64 to /usr/lib/libz.so.

If you are running a 32 bit system, there is NO reason to create /usr/lib64. If it is in fact looking for 64 bit libs, you are using a 64 bit version. edit: According to this link, your problem may be with libxml itself.

Hmm... Somehow Slackwares zlib is too old or wrong compiled. I don't know. I customized the zlib.SlackBuild from ftp.slackware.com and I recompiled it. I checked with "objdump -T libz.so | grep gzopen" and found out, that my compiled version contains gzopen64 -- no matter if I use my 64-compatible CPU or my i686 Netbook CPU.

Now I get another message but I think I'll fix this.

Here is the SlackBuild I used: http://pastebin.com/Pw2JRF5d
