GUI frontend for gphoto2

I received a new digital camera for Christmas. I've been trying to connect to it in Slackware before I do it in Windows. It is a camera that uses PTP and I have found information that gphoto will connect to it. I have installed libgphoto2 and also managed to get gphoto2 installed as well. The standard gnome GUI, gtkam doesn't seem to want to install and I figure it is because it is so gnome based and Slackware isn't so much geared towards gnome. I did some looking and found that "kamera" is the KDE equivalent. I'm thinking that I'm going to want some type of GUI to work with this camera since I'm going to be working with graphics.

Is there a quick and dirty or even clean way to get Kamera installed or some other gphoto GUI? Kamera doesn't show up in the swaret list or anywhere on the install even though it is part of the KDE package, if I understand properly.

I have Slackware 10.0

There is an app called Digikam. If you can't find packages through swaret for your default slackware installation, check on linuxpackages.net or get the source from kde-apps.org.

Thanks for trying to help, but I'm specifically looking for a KDE alternative.

I can post the ./configure error messages if you would like to help me install gtkam.

Linuxpackages has both Digikam and gtkam. I suspect both would work, but I'll try digikam first since it is more for the KDE user.

Thanks guys!

Oh, has anyone got any idea why the link in swaret.conf for linuxpackages doesn't seem to be working?

for kde, I just mount the usb camera and browse into it with konqueror

[edit]
My bad, I didn't see you have a "PTP" camera...I actually don't know anything about this
protocol...
