GTK2 Development Package
Hi there,
Does anybody know how to install the GTK2 Development Package on Slackware Current? I would like to compile a GTK application (Xfce), but the compiler is complaining about missing GTK development files. In Debian you usually just install the *-Devel package, but I could not find something similar in Slackware. Thanks a lot, Marco |
In Slackware, there are no separate "development" packages. Everything you need for compilation comes with the package itself. You should be more precise with the error messages you got when trying to compile xfce.
You do know that xfce is already part of Slackware? Eric |
Hi Eric,
Thanks for your answer. I tried to compile the latest XFCE version (4.3 Beta 1), which is not part of Slackware, yet. However, one of the libraries complained about missing GTK2 Development files. I am in Amsterdam today and have no access to my PC, but I can post you the exact error message on Saturday when I am back in London. Cheers, Marco PS: Have a nice Queensday :-) |

I am definitely not in Amsterdam on saturday :-) but I am today and friday (for work). If you look very carefully, you'll see me perhaps!
Try to post some of the error lines you get when compiling that xfce. Perhaps it just needs a version of GTK2 that Slackware does not have (yet). Eric |
