when I update my slackware box to slackware-current, gthumb can't find and picture in the directory that save a few pictures(jpg,bmp,gif...). gthum says: no image file found.

who knows the reason?

Try updating to the latest gthumb version manually.

Download here: http://gthumb.sourceforge.net/

Although swaret has worked good a few times, I did have a major disaster with it once and am kinda using it very cautiously.

I have downloaded gthumb 2.6 source from gthumb.sourceforge.net and compiled it, but the problem still exists.
I use xv to view the picture and all is ok, so the pictures have no problem. which library does gthumb use to detect picture? libtiff? when I update with swaret, libtiff can't find libstdc++.so.6. I search my box and find libstdc++.so.5, I link it to libstdc++.so.6. but no effection.

what's wrong with gthumb?

Did you try uninstalling and then installing from the slack 10 disks? Slack 10 gthumb version is 2.4.0

I dont know what that could be. Do you have a slack 10 install disk. Try installing from disk. I have also found out that many times you need to uninstall a program before you reinstall it. Do you really need gthumb? Theres a program called kuickshow that is really good and It comes with slack 10.

Fix for 'no image' in gthumb

I upgraded gnome and had the same problem. This fixed the problem for me:
Code:
rm -rf ~/.local/share/
If that doesn't work for you, run this command and delete anything it finds and then relaunch gthumb:
Code:
find ~ -name '*gthumb*'
Thanks monkeybrains.net for helping me fix this!

I'm having the same problem, trying to use pine to look at images attached to email. gthumb looks in /tmp and sees "no image". I tried both of the above fixes:
> rm -rf ~/.local/share/
which didn't help, and then after searching for '*gthumb*' I renamed (rather than deleted):
> mv ~/.gconf/apps/gthumb ~/.gconf/apps/old_thumb
> mv ~/.gnome2/gthumb ~/.gnome2/old_gthumb
I restarted pine and had the same result: gthumb sees no image. (And in ~/.gnome2 there was a new gthumb/ directory. Magic!)

Any ideas?
