Grub Issues

Well im stuck here, I moved from FC4 to Slackware I got everything running really good, and I wanted to change from lilo to grub. So I did /sbin/lilo -u /dev/hda, no errors then I got Grub 2 of CVS then did configure, make, make install all went good. So then I do grub-install /dev/hda and it gives me these two errors
Code:
root@workst:~# grub-install /dev/hda
/usr/local/sbin/grub-install: line 213: unexpected EOF while looking for matching ``'
/usr/local/sbin/grub-install: line 237: syntax error: unexpected end of file
root@workst:~#
and when I reboot GRUB appears and I can do nothing.

So I took my slackware cd and booted and now I can not get it to work, i have also downloaded the tgz and tried to install it though installpkg but doing grub-install /dev/hda still gives me errors.

Thanks

Do you see this ? :
Code:
grub>
If yes, grub seems installed and you could just create a /boot/grub/menu.lst
file for grub boot menu. For boot instruction I need to know how did you
partition the drive (where is / and if /boot is a separate partition)

No that was not there, just "GRUB" however I just deleted all the grub files, and did it again, an found that there was another grub-install in /sbin and that one worked good so im all up and running.

Thanks
