GRUB error in latest Slackware current

I have a problem with GRUB. When I run "grub-install /dev/sda" command there was an error message "Decompressor is too big". grub-2.04-3 has this issue but grub-2.04-1 does not I do know by looking threw the forum that this was reporteed back in Feb. and there is a patch for grub as well. I am wondering if this patch is going to be pushed upstream.

It has been long ago as I have reported here.

I understand but it still is around cause I went to install Grub on my younger son's computer cause I swapped out hard drives in his desktop and it wouldn't allow me to due to Decompressor is to Big. So I am wondering if Pat needs to look into this and maybe revert grub back to 2.04-1 or even recompile the package with the above patch because now we are in beta and I would think that he
would want things to be working correctly....

Only Pat (who is of course aware of this issue) knows what he plans to do. A blind guess is that he will upgrade GRUB when version 2.06 will be released, in a matter of weeks. Meanwhile you can use LILO instead as this issue in only for BIOS (Legacy) booting, or if your brother's machine is able to boot in EFI mode, either eLILO or GRUB. As an aside, for Slint I ship a recent GRUB package with this patch already committed.
