I hope you are not disappointed that I mention that your request is in (8) or am I losing the plot (again)?

BTW

any chance we move this link discussion to its own thread?

Everyone else, yes that included LILO devotees can join in as well.

I want a big floppy not a little 1440 Kb to work and all help or even stating the obvious will not endanger your kind souls.

Peace

aus9 > yes you may want to start a new thread

Also from tomsrtbt.FAQ :

Virtually all 1.44 drives support 1.722 just fine, but it is possible for
an extended format to break a floppy drive, use tomsrtbt at your own risk.
The install does mknod to make /dev/fd0u1722 if you don't have it already.

so you man want to try /dev/fd0u1722 instead of the 1680 one

my mistake I don't mean a clean thread but at the thread I have linked to.

Thanks for tip on 1722 its early days yet but not sure how that solves the 1680 issue.

I have read somewhere, groan, I have been reading as well like fdutils or floppycontrol or something that 1680 should be more stable than 1722 and yes I have also tried the 1920 Kb but got errors for my fd, as well as 1840 etc

The thread is here
