Grub and ext4 in slackware 64

I can see a few threads about this but I am confused and I would like things ready for the coming installation of 13.1

I have Alien's multilib installed.

If I install grub from slackware 13 will it work and will it have ext4 support?

or do I have to follow instructions I have seen which indicate that one has to compile from source and copy /boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5 to /boot/grub/ext4_stage1_5?

Thanks

You should be able to use the package from Slack-13 and copy /boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5 to /boot/grub/ext4_stage1_5 to have the ext4 support, unless you want to recompile grub (on a 32-bit system) after patching it to include ext4 support.

Well I have tried the package from 13 and copied the file but I still get this if I try grubconfig

Quote:
ERROR: Can't find 'ext3' from the grub package.
If you have the grub package installed, you should have a
/usr/lib/grub, /usr/share/grub, or /usr/local/share/grub
directory, containing the stage files.
root@LavanKossot:/boot/grub#
