gpm repeater scroll events to X

Hi

I have set up gpm as repeater for X given the parameter "-R raw".

The mouse is OK in X, but I can't manage to get scroll events repeated to X

In xorg.conf I have:
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Device" "/dev/gpmdata"
Option "Protocol" "auto"

My mouse is a Logitech

If you would have searched the forum, the answer would be 'Change the protocol from Auto to imps2 or ps2.'

This question gets asked at least 2 times a week.

First of all, why did you need to change GPM's repeater type? I've been using Slackware since 3.4, and I've never had to change anything to get X and GPM to work together. Besides setting up X, I mean.

Secondly, here is GPM's maintainer saying to use ms3 instead of raw:
