Google Chrome Icon Missing

So, I noticed another thread here which mentioned this issue. The first post gave a link to a blog post explaining you'd need to apply this diff:

Code:
--- extra/google-chrome/google-chrome.SlackBuild 2012-08-01 20:48:31.000000000 +0200
+++ google-chrome.SlackBuild 2014-01-15 21:34:38.425845534 +0100

 sed -i -e "s#Icon=google-chrome#Icon=/opt/google/chrome/product_logo_256.png#" \

-mkdir -p $PKG/usr/share/applications
-ln -s /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome.desktop \
 $PKG/usr/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop

 mkdir -p $PKG/install
Now, I'm guessing I did something wrong. I copy/pasted the contents into a file, moved that file to the same directory as where I had the slackbuild and ran the following which gave me the below error:

Code:
root@slackware:/tmp/google-chrome# patch -p1 < chrome.patch
can't find file to patch at input line 3
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:

Now, I am sure I am missing something obvious but I don't know what it is. I ended up using ruario's script so I'm not in a rush to get it working, I'm just more curious to know what I did wrong so I know in the future.

Hello,

There's something wrong in your patch (some spaces are missing). Maybe that's because of the copy/paste. Here is one which works with google-chrome.SlackBuild from Slackware-14.1: google-chrome.patch.txt

To use it :

Code:
$ cd /path/to/google-chrome/folder/
$ patch < /path/to/google-chrome.patch.txt
