GNOME2.4 dependancies

Hello all...
Have another couple of questions for you.
1) upgrading my slack9.0 with gnome2.4 packages i get the msg that tells me that I am missing libXrandr.so.2 . I happen'd for some other libs before during this upgrade and I solved it by figuring out wich package they belong to and installing them. Where is this libXrandr.so.2 contained?
2) Related to point 1): instead of getting stuck at each lib, is there a fast way (instead of *grepping* the names within the tgzs) , a command, an utility or a document where I can find a complete list of the .so libs and their dependancies and tgz packages?

I see some of you could say "hey why dont u just upgrade everything"?

Well... i am learning, and (as every good Linux user, I think...) I like to hit the heart of the problems instead of just getting the solutions and patch up just because somebody did it before me. I might be wrong, but i like to walk to the root of the probs...

Thx in advance

Fasta

I hope this helps:
libXrandr.so.2 is located in the xfree86-4.3.0 package. I don't know if you'd find it in any older versions of xfree. So I think you should download this package although you may have other dependency problems to install it. :)
Your other question I can not answer because I just installed slack a few hours ago. I hope somebody else answers that because I also want to know.

good luck
antale

Use <a href="http://www.swaret.org">swaret</a> to keep your system up to date.

EDIT: can't this forum handle html tags ?
