gmplayer Error opening/initializing device

Hi, I got the latest package for mplayer on linux packages. mplayer works fine from the command line, but i try to get gmplayer to work and it spits out this error:

Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.

I tried to run: gmplayer -vo x11

doesn't work

tried to run with my ati driver (fglrx)

gmplayer -vo fglrx

doesn't work...

what do i need to do to get it working?

yea ive been having the same problems. i tried going into settings, but couldnt find anything there that might help. try the settings and under video see if you can change anything. wish i could help, but i have the same problem.

I had the same problem when I messed with video driver settings on Video tab in preferences. Changing it back to 'xv' helped when I have tried now - But I m almost sure that it didnt help when I was using older version of Mplayer.

I finally got it to work, I found a list of available drivers by:

mplayer -vo help

then experimented (after hard locking my system once) until one worked.
