gkrellm uses 5-10% CPU... why??

Hey all,

Title says it all... When running kernel 2.6.* gkrellm always reports a 'background' CPU use of up to 10%. Top tells me it is caused by X and especially gkrellm:
Code:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
4580 leon 15 0 15712 8352 6372 S 7.9 3.7 1:47.89 gkrellm
When running kernel 2.4.* gkrellm nicely reports 0% when no additional apps are running.

Why this difference? And is there a way to get rid of it? I recompiled gkrellm from source but no difference.

Cheers, Leon.

hi there,

i don't know if it is your case, but i had problems with some plugins in the past. i forgot the name but it was a plugin that would control cpu freq scaling - kernel 2.6X.
i deleted this plugin and had no problem anymore.
just a thought.

regards
