As root, post the results of "ifconfig". Typically for me in the past, two things had to be working in order for me to get on-line:
1) The network interface (eth0 or eth1) had to be "up"
2) I had to start the dhcp service using "dhcpcd ethx" (where x is the number of the network device)
Also, is your router one of those that you manage via it's internal web server? Try opening a browser and open up page
