That's a pretty general question, which makes it harder to give a helpful answer. What specifically are you looking for?

-Are you interested in which software to use for burning?
k3b, XCDRoast are a couple of the more popular ones,
which are both easy to use.

-Is this a hardware-related question?
At a console type cdrecord -scanbus
Post the output.

Any of that give you a clue? Try narrowing it down or giving us some more detailed information.

Look at the cd-writing Howto at www.tldp.org (Note- A lot of the tldp howtos come with Slack. Look in /usr/doc). 'cdrecord -scanbus' probably won't turn up anything useful unless you follow some of the instructions in the Howto.

I just can't find it.
When I installed slack, the installation asked me if I would like to enable scsi emulation for my cdrw drive and I said yes and configure it to
hdd=ide-scsi
But I can't find it in my /etc/fstab
How should I do it??

# cdrecord -scanbus
Cdrecord 2.00.3 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jrg Schilling
Linux sg driver version: 3.1.25
Using libscg version 'schily-0.7'
scsibus0:
0,0,0 0) 'CD-RW ' 'CDR-2440MB ' '5SGC' Removable CD-ROM
0,1,0 1) *

looking at that, you would specify device 0,0,0 for cdrecord like this:
cdrecord -dev=0,0,0 -speed=24 /path/to/file
That would burn the specified file at a speed of 24X

As for the scsi emulation, on my machine that is spelled out in my /etc/lilo.conf
You might want to look at that.

Again, if this is all working out at the command line, then a graphic front-end program like XCDRoast will make it far easier to use.
