Getting Full Mouse Functionality

I want to get my MX510 to work like it works in Windows XP. I don't just want the scroll to work, but also the back and forward buttons, the 3rd button (clicking the mouswheel and scrolling with that)... There are other buttons, but they are not as important to me. I also want to make sure my mouse is working at its best... As in the 800dpi and 5.8megapixels/sec, the way it should be. With Windows, I just install the driver. I'm sure though, that I just have to edit my xorgconfig? I'm asking what I need to edit in it to get my mouse working the way I want.
