Question getting error when trying to calibrate evtouch slackware 13

i have installed evtouch on a fresh install of slackware 13 where i did a full install..
i installed evtouch using this website http://www.conan.de/touchscreen/evtouch.html

the error is:
Quote:
No evtouch capable device found, if you are sure you have
an evtouch capable touchscreen, please mail the resulting file of the command "lshal > evtouch_hal.out" to the
ubuntu-mobile@lists.ubuntu.com mailing list, so support for your device can be added.
this made me think that this was a ubuntu only thing??

anyone got any ideas??

thx

ok it appears i was an idiot for using evtouch.....

i typed in lsusb and it came up with

Quote:
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0c45:62c0 Microdia Sonix USB 2.0 Camera
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 04b4:6560 Cypress Semiconductor Corp. CY7C65640 USB-2.0 "TetraHub"
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0eef:0001 D-WAV Scientific Co., Ltd eGalax TouchScreen
i went to the eGalax site and found the linux drivers hear

http://210.64.17.162/web20/eGalaxTou...inuxDriver.htm

so i downloaded them changed the setup.sh so it pointed to xorg.conf-vesa and not xorg.conf...

it installed fine and i got the following back from it
Quote:
(I) Check user permission: root, you are the supervisor.
(I) Begin to setup the eGalax Touch driver.
(I) Extract eGalax Touch driver archive to /usr/local/eGalaxTouch32.
(I) Create eGalaxTouch utility shortcut in /usr/bin.
(I) Create TKCal tool shortcut in /usr/bin.
(I) Check X window version: 1.6.x
(I) Copy X module: x16/egalax_drv.so to /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input.

(Q) Which interface controller do you use?
(I) [1] RS232 [2] PS/2 [3] USB : 3
(I) Using interface: USB
(I) Found a HID compliant touch controller.

(I) Found X configuration file: /etc/X11/xorg.conf-vesa.
(I) Add touch configuration into /etc/X11/xorg.conf-vesa.

(I) Please reboot the system for some changes to take effect.
(I) After booting, type "eGalaxTouch" to do calibration.
but when i type in eGlaxTouch i get bash: eGlaxTouch: command not found

any ideas?

creatureofthedark,

I would like to try evtouch with a different touch screen than yours, but I am not able to use any binary version of evtouch from http://www.conan.de/touchscreen/evtouch.html because of an ABI mismatch at Xorg module load time. I can't compile evtouch either because there are changes in some of the Xorg functions. Where EXACTLY did you get an evtouch that was compatible with Slackware 13?

Thanks for your help,
Mike

For the reference for anyone else that is looking to try evtouch, it works with most touchscreen devices and is available for Slackware 13.1 at http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13...input-evtouch/ .
It also works for Slackware 13.0 and 12.2 with minor documented tweaks to the slackbuild.
Enjoy.

EDIT:
For the record, in modern Xorg, the evdev driver is designed to manage touchscreen devices. See man evdev for detailed options, it has Calibration, InvertX, InvertY, SwapAxes.
I can see an advantage to using evtouch, in that it has the Rotate option, which I need for my touchscreen (Dialogue INC Penmount USB, model 6000).
There is also a new calibration tool, called xinput_calibrator, which I have just found. I haven't tested it yet. It is said to work with all generic touchscreen drivers.
