Getting an error when I try to make xconfig as root...
***SOLVED***
I put in
make xconfig
and it returns
scripts/kconfig/qconf arch/x86/Kconfig
file drivers/net/arcnet/Kconfig already scanned?
make[1]: *** [xconfig] Error 1
make: *** [xconfig] Error 2
What causes this? After I reinstalled Slackware 12.2 from scratch. I installed the proper drivers for my wireless adapter and my ethernet adapter. Then I decided I wanted to rebuild the kernel to include PAE support so that all 4 gigs of ram that I have will be read instead of just 3 gigs. Am I getting that error because of the two new nic modules I installed?
How do I fix it?
I've been taking a look at /usr/src/linux/drivers/net/Kconfig
It's riddled with duplicates. I had read somewhere that duplicate entries can cause that error to appear. I know the error says /usr/src/linux/drivers/net/arcnet/Kconfig, but after reading on the net, ppl are saying to check the Kconfig file one level higher than the one specified.
I was able to cut out the part that was duplicate which was pretty much the whole 2nd half. I left the last line in of course. Now it works.
What causes this duplication?
Also in xconfig what's the difference from the checkmark and the dot when selecting options?
