Getting acquainted with MATE, quick question about QT themes.
So I have been using KDE4 pretty much since its been available in Slackware. I still love it and have no problems with it, but with the new release I thought I would try out something new. I am currently experimenting with MATE and I am liking it quite a bit. Its definitely giving my aging system a little more "snap". My only issue with it so far is that it wont honor my QT theme settings. I initially ran kde to set my colors and change my theme to qtcurve, that way I would have a uniform look in MATE. However even though MATE is honoring my colors and qtcurve with gtk2, its not using qtcurve with QT apps. For instance when I run KDE everything is set correctly, but when I switch to MATE all my settings are retained except QT changes to its ugly default theme. Any clues on how to fix this?

to make QT4 applications inherit the used GTK theme, open /etc/profile.d/

and add the following:

export GTK2_RC_FILES
save and log out and in

Ah there it is, That got it. Oddly enough Qtcurve was not listed as a option but selecting GTK+ worked, I'm assuming that selecting that option means its just going to use/piggy back off of what ever GTK theme is in use?

Yep, I believe that's how it works. The 'clearlooks' in the qtconfig preview looks very different to the gtk+ clearlooks theme I use, but using the gtk+ setting: there it is.
