Gets to grub loading then restarts and loops this process.

Specs

Intel i53570 3.40
Asus P8Z77-v LE plus
Samsung SSD 840 pro(windows 7)
Seagate 1tb (blank)
Evega gtx 660 ti

I have windows 7 on my samsung ssd as my main drive and have had mint installed on the second hard drive for the past 5 months for so and decided to give slackware a go.

I finished up my first ever install of slack 14.0 and everything goes smoothly. I set up my partition table in cfdisk for the basic /swap /boot / and /home setup.

Go through the install process and format everything and mount the hds. I have tried setup with Lilo and with out Lilo and the end result is the same. After the install i ctrl alt delete to restart and it flashes the grub loading text then immediately restarts and flashes the grub loading text and so forth and so forth.

Im hoping someone can at least tell me what may be causing this to happen? Thanks so much for your time.

Did you remove Mint and replace it with Slackware?

where did you install lilo? hd0 or hd1? If you put it on hd1 try again on hd0.

In terminal as root run "fdisk l" and post the result.

It sounds like you removed Mint and installed lilo to the wrong location. I'm not very familiar with grub2 that mint uses, but if you removed the os containing grub legacy you could get what you describe as grub on the mbr looks for a no longer existing stage2.

I would try another lilo install and make sure its going on hd0.

The samsung hd is sda and the seagate is sdb. I have windows installed on sda. I partitioned the sdb in 4 formats. /swap, /root, /home, and /boot. I also tried a installation with the format /swap, /root, /home. I believe everything including lilo was installed on sdb. Should it be installed on sda, the hard drive containing windows?

Also yes i did remove my mint installation using gparted in a virtual boot. I then formatted and installed slack through the slackware iso.

Yes put lilo on sda (hd0), what you had was grub installed to sda (hd0) but no longer have grub since removing Mint. Install lilo to the mbr of sda (hd0) and you should be good to go.
