generate-modprobe.conf: command not found
Any pointers with this one?
This is a fresh install of Slackware 12.1. Kernel compiles fine, and I have KDE and networking all as I want it (apart from getting my onboard AC97 sound working). Anyway, I can't generate modprobe.conf... Help! |
Try reading /etc/modprobe.conf. I'll post it here for your reference:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Thanks for that.
The first thing I did was install Slack 12.1 with the new kernel and follow my old 2.6.10 compile instructions - that say delete modprobe.conf and generate a new on! |
Just in case you are not up to date on other kernel-compiling procedures, one of the best modern kernel compiling guides is here, written by Alien Bob. A few things have changed since the old days, but nothing too major (or difficult). I would advise reading CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT and UPGRADE.TXT if you haven't already just to catch yourself up on new 12.1 stuff. Good luck and enjoy!
