gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or directory ERROR

I'm newb gay using Slackware 10.1.0

I'm having problem installing IKE-SCAN (any version) from nta-monitor.com/tools/ike-scan/

Once I get as far as "./configure", I get error:
C compiler cannot create executables

"Config.log" show next error:
gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or
directory

After reading several posts about it maybe I have problems with
packages missing and path wrong but I don't know how to fix it.

Maybe you'll try to figure it out my problem/solution with next info:

1. Output of 'which as':
Code:

Any response will be appreciated.

THANKS!

simcox1 08-05-2006 08:42 AM

You are missing glibc itself.

simcox1 08-05-2006 08:43 AM

And binutils by the looks of it.

jaisol 08-05-2006 10:03 AM

Installation was inherited then I prefer to install packages missed.

Is that possible?

What are the name of packages? and where can I download them?

THANKS again!

Nylex 08-05-2006 10:17 AM

You can get them from any Slackware mirror (see this page and click on your country, or one near you to see a list of mirrors). glibc-<version>.tgz will be in the slackware-10.1/slackware/a directory on any mirror and binutils-<version>.tgz will be in slackware-10.1/slackware/d.

jaisol 08-05-2006 10:59 AM

After reviewing Slackware mirror I found glibc-solibs-<version>.tgz but not glibc-<version>.tgz (without solibs) package.

Are them equivalent packages?
Should I install glibc-solibs-<version>.tgz or not?

I got binutils package.

THANKS again!

jaisol 08-05-2006 11:10 AM

I found glibc at ftp://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/...0.1/slackware/l/ directory but I see several versions.

It glibc-2.3.4-i486-1.tgz package should I install?

THKS!

Nylex 08-05-2006 11:12 AM

Ah yes, that would be it. Sorry, that's the right package :). You don't need to install glibc-solibs as you've already got that installed.

jaisol 08-05-2006 12:01 PM

Thanks to all.

Packages were downloded and I'll try to install them.
If I can't install successfully I will post new thread about it.

THANKS TO ALL AGAIN.
