gcc compiler errors

Hey all,

I have been having problems - I believe with gcc, though it might be the programs themselves. Whenever I compile a large program, say the linux kernel, or sage-math, &c, I end up with compiler errors, sometimes ending in the program not being fully compiled.

If I restart the compiler, by saying "make" again, it begins again and finishes the job, and dosen't report the same error twice.

Does the kernel source really contain complier errors, or do I need to patch gcc; or do I need to pass options to the compiler?

Thanks! -Dan

What sort of errors are you getting? Have you checked your RAM for errors?

I am re-compiling now to see what errors I get. I actually would lean towards a RAM problems. How do you check that? -DN

I figured out how to check the RAM: Just get a live cd of say Ubuntu, SUSE, Fedora, &c, and in the boot menu, do a memory test! - Pretty simple.

I'll post again, if this does not fix the issue with the compiler, but I have a feeling that it will.

You don't need those distros, you just need memtest86+ livecd.
