Fullscreen programs wont work.

Hi

I have a pretty new installation of Slackware 11.0, and when running some fullscreen programs like,
Stepmania, my both monitors goes black and I have to hardware-reboot my computer. When running VMWare and it boots windows it goes into fullscreen, X will crash. And Im back to the shell I started X from.

None of these errors did happen with 10.2, and I could only think this is related to the update of X.org so, is there any significant that needs to be changed in the xorg.conf file?

If your using the nvidia drivers try updating to the newest (9631), i believe it includes some fixes for fullscreen apps.

The 9631 driver still has problems running many fullscreen apps, depending on the GPU the card uses. There are also still some memory management issues (black windows running Beryl). It will take a few months for Nvidia to catch up.

On the bright side, Project Nouveau is making progress, so this will just be an unhappy memory in a few years.

pdw_hu: Thanks that helps me play Stepmania, now it is only the problem with VMWare, maybe I should make a realy big downgrade instead because VMWare worked perfectly before.
Also every else fullscreen application. But I cant remember which version of nvidia driver I used.

I will crash X again and see if the Xorg log will say anything usefull.
