Are you sure you have the model number
right? I can't find any reference to it, neither
on http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/ nor on any
of the linux-mobile sites ...

http://www.linux-on-laptops.com
http://www.tuxmobil.org

Cheers,
Tink

in the real world, it's an uniwill 258SA5.

if you flash it with their BIOS it will run longer and you won't have references anymore to Fujitsu Siemens.

fuijitsu siemens not only is incompenetent when it comes to paying back the license fees for not used windows -- even when it's in the EULA they won't pay it back.

OH MAN.. that annoying BEEEEEEEEEP can be removed from the bios..!
I flashed my oem bios with this one now, works like a charm.
I didnt buy my computer with any os, so I havent that problem with returing windows.
Im running 100% linux on it.

yes, the beep's gone as well. much better... forgot to mention that.

I never ever ran windows on it. the stuff came with windows. XP-HOME edition.

the start screen states that if you don't like the terms of use, you can go for a refund on the unused parts.

however FSC gives you EUR 90 but you have to send the unit to germany, which cost you inclusding insurance, well over eur 200. the only thing they do is they take off the sticker on the base, they flash it and erase the disk.

we happen to be a company selling several pieces of hardware and we sell several tens of laptops and now, we completely refuse to sell FSC.

Acer is easier with the refund.

I like FJ, but I would like to have more batterytime and a smaller laptop, but they are expencive.
But still I want to have the possibility to run games on it, thats the hard part.
So, I think i want to keep my amilo 1840 and then buy one ultraportable as my laptop-on-the-run.
The games performance on the 1840 is great, even in cedega/winex and the lousy ati-drivers. (Those games that actually works :P)
