Framebuffer screwed up after upgrading kernel

I just moved up to kernel 2.6.19.2 from 2.4.33.3. In 2.4.33.3, I had a 1024x769x256 framebuffer but now when I boot into the new kernel I get an ugly 640x480.

I get the feeling that I left something out when I compiled. Any thoughts on how to use 1024x768x256 for my new kernel?

Thank you.
