forcing boot from cd
i just installed slack 9.1 on a dell latitude d600 and usually i have an error at boot but i just found a solution for this error for the same laptop on a forum, the error is cs: IO port probe 0x0800-0x08ff: and then it freezes, well to fix this i need to get into the install cd and mount the partitions, enter chroot and change a file but after the install when i press enter at the cd boot prompt it tries to boot the installed system anyways and of course freezes but i want it to boot from the cd as if i was going to install... how can i force it to do this?

maybe i don't understand your question....but it seems to me that if you want to boot from a cd, then why don't you, when you turn on your computer, simply enter the system setup and make the change their....once again i may not understand your question, but usually if i want to boot from a cd all i have to do is restart my computer, press f2, to get into setup, and then simply change the boot sequence......now i have a dell computer optiplex, but thats how i do it....
