Err... this is the Internet. You or I don't dictate any "class system" here. Wake up and smell the coffee. You shouldn't really be using these poll results for any academic or scientific purpose...
I beg your pardon? I don't want to have a "what's LQ's members favorite distribution poll". I don't care about that. I only care about "what's LQ's slackware-using members favorite distribution". So get your head out of your arse before you side with a moderator (how cliche).
If the board of moderators thinks I can't start a thread specifically dedicated to a certain type of Linux users, go ahead and close it right now because if everybody and their brother who have never even heard of Slackware vote .. this thread is useless.
I don't want to use the information in any kind of academic/scientific research. *I* wanted to know. Nothing more to it.
But you might want to close this thread anyway.. 6 consecutive posts about coffee.. yeah.. quite on topic.

introuble, I'm sorry. I voted and I think I began and/or was present at the thread's slide into gray areas. Slackware is my favorite distribution, but not my main one because so far I lack the skill to set it up to compare with my main distribution in day to day use.
Having said, though, it *is* disappointing that OS threads often degenerate into turf battles. The way it looks now, one day there will be armed conflicts that have their basis in the OS rivalries of today.

Oh, Great Gods of Slackware, Smite thine enemies using Fedora!!! Use your spear of newbies to rid the world of their unholy kernel!!!!
"Bob" willing, may Slack someday reign on this Earth! (You can read more about this in SubGenius Pamphlet #1, "The World Ends Tomorrow And You May Die".)

When does Pamphlet #2 ("I'm OK, But You're an Idiot") come out?
I've been reading Bob's changelog.txt, and I'm tired of downloading his newest -current every week...
I pre-ordered it, but...

You might want to take a closer look at your own attitude, brother. You've been kind of dictatorial which we don't appreciate. And yes, I will talk about coffee when and where I want...
Don't think you're cool just because you use Slackware and Gentoo. Lots of us use Slackware and gentoo and we're not rocket scientists. Your contempt for other distros is all too obvious and we definitely don't warm up to people who look down on other Linux (or for that matter Windows) users here. That's simply not the culture of LQ.
I've already reported your behaviour to the mods. Your habit of butting into others' threads (ironically you did exactly what you are complaining me of doing in my thread in the programming forum) is annoying and your sarcastic one-liners are far from helpful. If you need me to report you straight to the admin, just ask. I'll do that with pleasure.
Fix thy attitude. Therein lies the problem

Yeah, lighten up a little, both of you, it's only a freakin' thread.
In real life (You know, away from the computer), conversations don't go linear in a group of people. At least they are reading it, commenting on it, and the thoughts in their heads. As long as it doesn't degenerate into a free-for all about the coffee, just serve them some, and nudge the topic back on track, with something like

Hey, that was pretty amusing, but what about my original question, please?
Sometimes, we need to let off steam. Live with it.
As far as attitudes go, we all seem to forget two things:
The human animal gets alot of their conversational input about the state of the other persons attitude by visual means. Unfortunately, in a forum such as this, we cannot get that type of input. So we construe and assume things that are not by necessity there.
None of this is real. It is all a series of 1's and 0's stored in a machine.
You can swim farther by swimming with the current, and just guiding yourself along.
But it's something I feel we must address because I hate to see distro-elitism on a forum like LQ and it shouldn't be encouraged or ignored.
I don't beleive the OP was going for distro-elitism, just a specific answer to a specific question.
The question was "For Slackware fans: What's your 2nd favorite OS?"
Notice it said "Slackware". Not "Every OS and Distro". The OP is assuming that Slackware is already their favorite. If it is not, then this thread is not for you.
Notice it said "2nd favorite OS". Not "Favorite OS", because if you are responding at all, you already have Slackware as your favorite.
So the OP's fustration at the non-Slackware users bullying their way in was legitimate. I can understand that.
As for wandering off-topic, it happens.
So let us close this unfortunate interlude and continue with the OP's pupose for this thread:
Slackware users: What is your 2nd favorite OS?
EDIT**** Sorry. One more comment:
It was posted in the Slackware Forum.
Not in the General Forum. So I do not consider that elitist at all. Just wanted an opinion from Slackware users.

It's not based on his post in this thread. I've been observing a pattern in this guy's behaviour on this forum. Has a habit of jumping into random threads and making unhelpful and sarcastic remarks like : "If you're a newbie, what the heck are you doing with Slackware" or remarks of that nature. It was when he butted into a legitimate programming thread I created that I noticed it and then realized that many of his posts were of a similar nature.
So there's more behind the scenes in my posts here than what you can see... (as you might have imagined).
Why should any user just go about randomly posting in threads where they cannot be of help? And now what I find amusing is that this guy is complaining that his thread is going off-topic.

There's no such concept of "thread ownership" on a public forum. Everybody behaves as per the rules, no matter whether on their own thread or other threads.
