i do have a problem. i use kde-3.1.4 and almost after every reboot/poweroff i have to change my settings for the fonts, because they are either 2-3 sizes sizes too big or too small. i'm using now kernel-2.6.0-test11 but had the same problem with 2.4. sometimes it helps to just shutdown the X-server, but often it doesn't change the fonts to the "true" size even after several init3, killall X ect.
i hope there are any suggestions, because this is really annoying.
GTK apps use the GTK libraries and are what Gnome is based around, Qt apps use the Qt libraries and are what KDE uses.
I've had a similar problem with GTK/ Gnome fonts, but not with KDE ones. To solve the GTK app problem, I edited /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc and added this line:
gtk-font-name = "Luxi Sans 12"
and that makes all gtk apps use that font and size globally. If you want to just change them for your user, then do the same thing in ~/.gtkrc-2.0 Don't know if that's the answer you're looking for but hope that helps.
well, it's a good start. qt apps i could change fast via the kde control center but i didn't find out how i could change the font for gtk based apps. this helps especially for evolution, because it's really annoying in reading your mail with a font that is 3 sizes too big.
thanks so far.
To change fonts for gtk use /usr/bin/gnome-control-center, you can also try experimenting with changing the dpi in gnome using this proggy (I've found that I have to lower it from 96 to 75 to match KDE).
