Fontconfig error: "conf.d" line 1 no element found
Pls help me resolve this problem. I have installed freetype and fonconfig so that I would be able to install pango and gtk. I already got cairo installed correctly but this error message "Fontconfig error: "conf.d" line 1 no element found" appears during boot time and every time I open a text file. I already tried reinstalling freetype on /usr, and another on a directory that I have forgotten.
Any help would be appreciated. I have been trying to resolve this problems for days. |
The error message came from fontconfig so reinstalling freetype won't help. It looks like there may be a problem with the syntax of one of the files in /etc/fonts. Have a look at /etc/fonts/fonts.conf and the files in /etc/fonts/conf.d

I have tried to compile pango with the error message not yet solved. It installed successfully but when I reboot my pc I can't run X anymore. Now it says that pango somewhat failed and what not. Now I'm back to windows until I find a solution to this problem.
I guess I really messed up on installing those thingies. I am not yet accustomed to linux and I expect to break my machine due to my explorations (lol). If ever I did not resolve the problem, then I will just reinstall slack and try it all over again, but reformatting and reinstalling is my last resort. I have tried viewing those files and they display some code that I cannot read as of now, java being my first language. the error message points to line 1 of conf.d, but conf.d is a directory and I don't know where line 1 is. |
" Press ? for keyboard shortcuts
" Sorted by name (.bak,~,.o,.h,.info,.swp,.obj at end of list) "= /etc/fonts/conf.d/ ../ 10-fonts-persian.conf 10LohitGujarati.conf autohint.conf no-bitmaps.conf no-sub-pixel.conf sub-pixel.conf unhinted.conf yes-bitmaps.conf Now here is what is written on my /etc/fonts/conf.d. It is the same as the one included on the .tar source of fontconfig. I do not know what will I change here. Sorry for the ugly post. I am using lynx as of now cause my X wont run. |
