How can make 80x30 mode start by default in Slack 8.1?

My video card doesn't support Vesa Frame-buffrer so every startup I'm asked to select a video mode. So I want 80x30 scheme to load by default

Any suggestions?

I believe in lilo you have a line that says something like "vga=ask" and you would simply comment that and uncomment the line for "vga=80x30" or something very similar to that.

I have read a manual on www.intel.com about i815 chipset's linux compatibility and it said that my integrated video card doesn't support framebuffer, so I ca't have high-resolution console (non-X based) :(
is it true or I can configure it somehow?

Well, mine is "experimental" but works, so possibly yours is as well, but you would need to check in the frame buffer section of the kernel config to see if it's there. If not, I am not sure... but will see if I can find out.

Well, I thought one day that I ran sndconfig in slack, but I must be sadly mistaken because I have tried again, and it's a no go.

You may want to travel on over to alsa's website and have a peak at their ideas.

Oh, and I haven't ever tried it, but LDP hasn't ever been wrong (at least for me anyway) so here's the Sound HOWTO
